Combinaut infinite crafting game

Combinaut: an infinite crafting game, online and free

Drag one element onto another to combine them.

An infinite crafting game you can play right now

Combinaut is a free infinite craft game that runs in your browser. You start with four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and drag one onto another to see what they make. Whatever comes out joins your catalogue and can be combined again, with anything, including itself. Fire and Water make Steam, Steam and Earth make something else, and a few minutes in you are holding elements nobody told you existed. There is no score, no timer, no lives and no ending. The catalogue is the game.

Fire + Water = Steam

Nothing to install, no account, no email. You play this infinite craft game online, free, right here on this page, and this website is two things: the game, and a database of everything it can make. How to play covers mouse, touch and keyboard in about a minute, if you want the controls spelled out.

How the game works

The short game description: an infinite craft game is a crafting game with no fixed recipe list. The older alchemy games shipped with a few hundred hand-written combinations, and once you had found them all the game was over. Combinaut has no such ceiling. When you put together two elements that nobody has combined before, a language model is asked what the result should be, once. Its first valid answer is stored permanently, so from then on that pairing gives the same result to every player. The universe grows with every new pairing, and the more people play, the further out it reaches.

That is what makes it infinite in practice rather than only in name. Whether you play for ten minutes or four hours, there is always a pairing you have not tried, and a good share of them lead somewhere new. Some lead somewhere nobody has been at all. Those are world firsts, and your catalogue marks them with a star so you can see which of your discoveries were yours before they were anyone else's.

Its own universe of elements

Every combination in Combinaut was generated by us, for Combinaut. That is worth saying plainly because the genre has one famous name in it. Infinite Craft, made by Neal Agarwal at neal.fun, is the game that made this style of play popular, and it has its own database of results built up by its own players. Combinaut is not that game, is not affiliated with it, and does not use its data. Our recipes will sometimes disagree with other crafting games, which generated their own. There is no shared authority deciding what fire and water should make, so two independently built universes drift apart almost immediately.

If you arrived looking for a different game's answer, ours may not work there. How our universe is generated explains the process, and Combinaut vs Infinite Craft sets the two games side by side.

Recipes, and a database you can search

An infinite craft game recipe is just a pairing and its result: Fire plus Water gives Steam. Because every result in Combinaut is stored the moment it is first made, all of them are in the recipe database, searchable and browsable. Look up what makes an element, what an element makes in turn, and the shortest path back to the four base elements. The database currently holds 44,177 combinations across 6,412 elements, and it grows every day. You can also browse every element alphabetically.

Ten recipes from the Combinaut database. Every one is looked up in the corpus when this picture is generated, so it cannot drift away from what the game actually does.

The database is useful when you are stuck, and it is also simply interesting to read. Following a strange element back through the chain of infinite craft game recipes that produced it is half the fun of this kind of game, and it is the part a walkthrough cannot give you, because the chain that made your element is the one you built.

Free, online, and unblocked where the network allows

Combinaut is an infinite craft game online that is free to play and stays free. There is no paid tier, no energy meter and no countdown asking you to wait or pay. It is also small: the whole page is around sixty kilobytes, with no splash screen and no PLAY button standing in front of a game that has already loaded. That is what makes it a workable infinite craft game unblocked on slow and filtered connections, including school wifi, wherever the network lets the page through at all. We cannot promise a school filter will allow it, and we do not pretend to. The unblocked page says exactly what does and does not work there, including how the game keeps going from everything already catalogued when the part that generates brand new combinations is unreachable.

For kids as well as adults

There is no chat, no user account and no way for a stranger to contact a player. Every element name and glyph passes through a safety filter before it can enter the universe, which makes this a reasonable infinite craft game for kids and a good one for a classroom, where the science and word-association side of it does quiet work. Players steer the universe toward whatever they like, from chemistry to internet memes and brainrot elements, and the filter applies to all of it equally. Parents and teachers with questions can reach us through the contact page.

The interface

The infinite craft game interface here is deliberately plain. The board is the large empty space, and the catalogue is the panel beside it, or the sheet beneath it on a phone. Drag a tile from the catalogue onto the board, drop one tile on another, and the result appears where they met. Around that there is undo, clear, a sound toggle, search, three sort orders, a filter that shows only your world-first discoveries, and a trophy panel that tracks milestones. Light and dark themes follow your system setting, and pinch to zoom is never disabled. That is the whole of it, on purpose.

Your progress is yours

Discoveries are saved in your own browser rather than on our servers, so they survive closing the tab and we never see them. The share button gives you a snapshot of your catalogue to send to a friend. If you play in two tabs at once, both keep up. More in the questions and answers, in the guides, and in the page about the site itself.

How to make things in Combinaut: Game, Video Game, Squid Game and more

Every recipe below was played against the live game before it was written down, and where an element has not been discovered yet, the answer says so rather than inventing a path. Look up any ingredient in the recipe database, or start from Squid, Casino and Jigsaw Puzzle in the alphabetical catalogue.

How do you make Game in Combinaut?
There is no bare Game element in Combinaut yet, because every element here is discovered by a player and nobody has landed on that exact word. The closest discovered elements are Game Night, Brain Game and Robotic Game. Game Night is Chess Match + Casino. Chess Match is Jigsaw Puzzle + Rivalry, Rivalry is Rival + Rival, and Rival is Race + Race. If you are looking for the Infinite Craft recipe for Game at neal.fun, it will be different: the two games generate their own universes and share no recipes.
How do you make Game in Combinaut step by step, from the four base elements?
Race first: Air + Water = Cloud, Cloud + Air = Sky, Air + Air = Wind, Earth + Earth = Mountain, Wind + Mountain = Avalanche, Sky + Avalanche = Snow, Fire + Water = Steam, Steam + Fire = Boiler, Boiler + Steam = Engine, Snow + Engine = Snowmobile, Snowmobile + Snowmobile = Race. Then Race + Race = Rival and Rival + Rival = Rivalry. Jigsaw Puzzle next: Earth + Water = Mud, Mud + Mountain = Landslide, Mud + Earth = Clay, Fire + Fire = Inferno, Clay + Inferno = Ceramic, Ceramic + Ceramic = Mosaic, Landslide + Mosaic = Jigsaw Puzzle, and Jigsaw Puzzle + Rivalry = Chess Match. Casino last: Cloud + Fire = Lightning, Mountain + Water = River, Lightning + River = Electricity, Earth + Air = Dust, Cloud + Dust = Haze, Electricity + Haze = Neon, Neon + Neon = Las Vegas, Las Vegas + Las Vegas = Casino. Finally Chess Match + Casino = Game Night.
How do you make Video Game in Combinaut?
Video Game as an exact element has not been discovered yet. The nearest results so far are Smart Party, which is Smart Screen + Game Night and carries the game controller glyph, Robotic Game, which is Game Night + Robot, and Brain Game, which is Smart Screen + Chess Match. Smart Screen itself is Robotic Game + Television. Whoever combines the pairing that finally produces Video Game gets it starred as a world first.
How do you make Squid Game in Combinaut?
Squid is quick: Air + Fire = Smoke, Earth + Air = Dust, Smoke + Dust = Soot, Soot + Water = Ink, Water + Water = Lake, Ink + Lake = Squid. Squid Game itself has not been discovered in Combinaut. Squid + Game Night makes Ink Night, Squid + Deathmatch makes Ink War, and Squid + Championship makes Ink Trophy, so the pairing that produces it is still open. Any Squid Game recipe you find for the neal.fun game belongs to that game and will not work here.
How do you make Steam Game in Combinaut?
Steam is the first thing most players make: Fire + Water = Steam. From there Steam + Engine makes Train and Steam + Game Night makes Steamy Night, and Steam Game as an element has not been discovered. Combinaut runs in the browser, so there is no Steam store version and nothing to download.
Why do recipes from other crafting games not work in Combinaut?
Because every crafting game of this kind generates its own universe. Infinite Craft at neal.fun asked its model, Combinaut asked ours, and there is no shared authority deciding what two elements make, so a recipe is only valid inside the universe that produced it. The Combinaut recipe database holds every combination that works here.
How do I get a Game element that nobody has discovered yet?
Play toward it. Every pairing nobody has tried is sent to the language model once and its answer is stored for everyone. Combine elements that mean play, competition and screens, such as Game Night, Chess Match, Smart Screen and Trophy, and use the star filter in your catalogue to see which of your results were world firsts.
