Combinaut infinite crafting game

About Combinaut

Combinaut is a small browser game about combining things, and a database of everything it can make.

What it is

You start with Earth, Air, Fire, Water and put things together. Whatever comes out goes into your catalogue and can be combined again. There is no score, no timer, no account and no ending.

Alongside the game there is a searchable database of every combination in it, including how to reach any element from the four you started with, plus an alphabetical index of every element. The guides are short and there are only a few of them.

Its own universe

Infinite Craft is a game by Neal Agarwal, at neal.fun. Combinaut is an independent game with its own universe of elements, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to neal.fun or Neal Agarwal. Every combination here was generated by us, for this game. We do not use another site's data, including copies of it that are freely available. Why that matters, and what it means for recipes you find elsewhere.

What it deliberately does not do

  • No signup, no email capture, no account.
  • No interstitial, no countdown, no PLAY button in front of a game that already loaded.
  • No ads interrupting play.
  • No per-player data on our servers. Your catalogue is in your browser and we cannot see it.
  • No sound unless you turn it on.

Some of those are principles and some are just consequences of keeping the thing small. The whole page is around sixty kilobytes, which is what lets it open on a slow or filtered connection.

How it is paid for

It runs on free infrastructure tiers, which is why it is small and why generating brand new combinations is rationed rather than unlimited. When the daily allowance for new generation runs out, the game keeps working from everything already catalogued and the pairings nobody has reached yet are generated overnight.
